We are a husband-and-wife team of music educators, choral conductors, & creative business owners living in White Rock, BC.  Music brought us together – it's our passion, our hobby, and now it's our livelihood.  Nothing makes us happier than sharing our love for music with our friends, students, and community.

Welcome to our [online] musical home.

We teach one-on-one voice, guitar, piano, and music theory lessons to kids and adults. Lessons are offered online through Zoom and also in person at our beautiful home studio in White Rock, BC.

MEET SAMARA

"We feel so fortunate to have Andrew and Samara in the musical life of our son. Andrew has been the perfect teacher for our teenager – helping him develop his love of voice and piano... Samara's love of music and of our community is evident in everything she does."

– FOREMAN FAMILY

Our mission as teachers

First and foremost, we believe that learning an instrument should be fun. We are dedicated to helping our students experience the joy that comes from singing, playing an instrument, composing, or learning music theory. We will teach you how to find your voice, how to embrace your creative side, and how to develop your technique and skills.

Wherever you're at on your musical journey, we will meet you there. Our students range from complete beginners to experienced musicians –  we teach kids and adults of all ages and backgrounds. For us, it's about more than just teaching an instrument. It's about helping our students uncover the passion, healing, self-expression, and love that comes from making music.

Why choose us?

We get it – there are a lot of music studios out there.
This is what we're known for:

1. We invest in relationships with our students.

Learning an instrument is vulnerable – we've been there. Everyone learns better when they are comfortable. Our first priority is to put you at ease, to get to know you, and to give you a space to be safe to make mistakes throughout the learning process. We are kind, we are laid-back, and we are (occasionally) even funny.

2. We know our stuff.

We have years of teaching experience at the elementary, high school, post-secondary, and community levels. Between the two of us, we have 14 years of university music education with degrees in piano, voice, composition, choral conducting, music theory, and music history. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced musician, we're are well-equipped to meet you where you're at.

3. We give you options (and we've mastered the Zoom thing!).

Want to see us every week? Once a month? In person? Online? Not everyone has the same needs or interests, so we offer a variety of options.

Covid-19 hit our businesses hard and we quickly pivoted to run our  choirs  and studio online. We did the research, we invested in the technology, we tested the waters, and we've perfected the setup. We know how to make an online lesson feel worthwhile, not-so-awkward, and some of our students even prefer Zoom lessons to in-person lessons (you can wear your pjs after all!).

But don't just take our word for it. Here's what our students are saying:

"Andrew is an amazing piano instructor. I am an adult beginner and was shy to start lessons. He put me right at ease and quickly figured out a good starting point for me. Each week it just gets more and more interesting."

–SHARRON GIBBS, STUDENT

"Samara is a wonderful voice teacher! As a choral singer, she has helped me find my voice. Both in studio and now online, Samara knows how to coach out the best of my voice, in a very positive, supportive manner."

–SUSAN MCLENNAN, STUDENT

"The best example of how well these lessons are going is that my strong-willed child quickly jumps up and gets ready when I tell him it's time to go. His favourite day is piano lesson day!"

–ALISON HAMPTON, PARENT

Wait, there's more!

Like most creatives, we tend to wear many different hats. When we're not teaching lessons, you might find us:

Let's stay connected.

If you're a fan of musical covers and mediocre puns, we should probably be Instagram friends.
